REGINA ? Jason Brian Emil Will, currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for smothering a toddler, is on a hunger strike, his family said on Thursday.
Members of Will?s family gathered to speak to reporters on Thursday morning at the law office of Bob Hrycan, the lawyer who is handling Will?s conviction and sentence appeal. They said the 25-year-old Regina man is protesting his manslaughter conviction as well as a Court of Appeal judge?s recent refusal to release him pending the appeal.
Will, currently incarcerated at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert, is into the 12th day of his hunger strike, family said.
Hrycan is anticipating filing an appeal of the bail decision within the next week and will ask that a hearing be held soon after to determine whether the Appeal Court judge?s decision should be overturned.
A date for the conviction and sentence appeal has yet to be set, but Hrycan expected it wouldn?t happen before spring.
Will was found guilty after trial at Regina Court of Queen?s Bench of suffocating his then-fiancee?s 18-month-old son, Raime Myers, in July 2009, causing a fatal hypoxic brain injury. Will and his family continue to claim he?s not guilty.
The Crown has also filed an appeal in this case, asking that the sentence be upped. The Crown had initially been looking for a 10-year prison term.

The buyer pays one shipping charge which covers postage, packaging, handling, delivery confirmation, and tracking. Insurance may be extra for some items. Buyers can not arrange their own shipping. Local pickups are available for a $10 handling fee. Items of 1 pound or less typically ship by USPS Priority mail, while heavier items typically ship by UPS Ground. We reserve the right to select the shipping carrier and because UPS does not deliver to PO boxes the buyer must provide a physical shipping address. Our system automatically uses the shipping address indicated by /PayPal and ignores the Notes section. We use experience-proven shipping materials and packaging techniques. Products may be disassembled prior to shipping as appropriate to ensure their safety and minimize shipping costs. Problems are rare however if an item is damaged on arrival, buyer agrees to notify us within 3 days with a contact phone number, and make the item and the original packaging available for inspection for another 10 days. We will notify our shipping carrier who will then have an opportunity to assess the nature of the damage. After our shipping carrier has made their determination we will then effect a timely resolution. In the rare event that actual shipping charges are more than the amount quoted in the auction, buyer will be presented with the option of canceling the purchase or paying the actual shipping cost (Packaging and handling fees are waived). INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING POLICY: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyers responsibility. Please check with your countrys customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. At the bottom of this auction page under ?Shipping, payment details and return policy? you will be able to see or calculate the shipping cost for your country. This single shipping charge covers postage (typically via Airmail), packaging, handling, customs forms, and our trip to the post office. Because International shipping issues are outside of our control the buyer agrees that we have completely fulfilled our obligations once we ship your item and obtain a customs receipt. To be clear, having the item shipped across International borders invalidates any otherwise stated guarantee or warranty. In the rare event that actual shipping charges are more than the amount paid, Buyer will be presented with the option of canceling the purchase or paying the correct shipping and handling costs. Canadian buyers may have the choice to use UPS or USPS at the time of checkout. We recommend UPS, but will ship by whatever method is communicated to us directly thru /paypal. UPS shipping is done daily, is typically cheaper, and may incur higher customs fees (we do have a special agreement with UPS that discounts these fees to $10 for items under $200). USPS shipping is done 1-2 times per week, is typically more expensive, and tends to have lower custom fees for items over $200. Opinions are mixed when it comes to Registry cleaners. Some say that these programs are like snake oil, that do not really improve anything after they have been used to clean up the Registry. Others notice improvements, for instance in start up speed as the size of the Registry often gets reduced as a consequence if the Registry optimizer defragments the Registry after operation.
While you may get improvements in start up speeds, cleaning stray files or invalid entries usually does not have an effect on the system. Even worse, if programs identify keys improperly, it can lead to all kinds of issues afterwards. That said, there are still situations where you may want to run a Registry cleaner, for instance when the uninstallation of a program did not complete successfully and resulted in some weird behavior of the operating system.
Eusing Free Registry Cleaner 3.0 has just been released. It promises to make the computer faster and improve overall PC performance and stability. While that may not be the case for all systems it is run on, running it should not have any ill-effects on the system either as it comes with options to create a full Registry backup and restore any chances made during program use.
I suggest you create a Registy backup first before you start to use the program. If you can, create a system backup as well to be on the safe side. When you first start the Registry cleaner you will notice the task list and sections on the left side of the screen. The sections let you pick specific locations or items, like startup programs, fonts or obsolete software, that you want scanned in the Registry.
A click on scan registry issues starts the scan which should take less than a minute to complete. All issues found are displayed after the scan on the right pane. Here you can verify the issues and uncheck problems that you do not want the program to resolve during clean up. You find an option under Edit to save all the program?s findings to a text document for safe keeping or further analysis. A click on repair registry issues removes the invalid entries from the Registry.
As far as additional features go: you can restore previous optimizations in case something went wrong, e.g. a program that you rely on is not starting anymore, and add values or keys to an ignore list so that they are never deleted from the Registry when the program is used.

From Day 1 of his presidency, Barack Obama said he was going to try a different approach to Iran to address its nuclear ambitions and support for regional extremist groups: "We will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist," he said in his Inaugural Address. Three years later, a sputtering international diplomatic effort to curtail Tehran?s nuclear program is about all that remains of Obama's "extended hand."
Republican challenger Mitt Romney says a weak Iran policy has afforded the regime in Tehran 3-1/2 years to progress toward ?nuclear weapons capability? and to pursue its radical regional designs. In his specifics, however, Romney often doesn?t sound all that different from Obama.
Here are three areas where the candidates differ in their approach to Iran: Iran and the bomb, support for terrorism and the Assad regime in Syria, and dialogue versus regime change.

This Feb. 15, 2012, file photo, released by the Iranian President's Office, claims to show Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (second left) being escorted by technicians during a tour of a research reactor center in northern Tehran. (Iranian President's Office/AP/File)
1. Iran and the bomb: US military options
Both Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney say a nuclear Iran is ?unacceptable,? and both hold out the prospect of military strikes to stop Iran as a last resort. But they use different terminology to describe the threshold that would presumably trigger preemptive US military action.
Obama says he would not accept Iran possessing a nuclear weapon, while Romney says he would not accept Iran reaching ?nuclear weapons capability? ? a lower threshold that suggests a fuzzier point at which military action against Iran would be undertaken.
To halt Iran?s nuclear march, Romney says he would first impose ?crippling? sanctions ? the same word Obama administration officials use to describe the sanctions they have already put in place. Romney also says he would order aircraft carriers to maintain a regular presence in both the Persian Gulf and the eastern Mediterranean as a means of convincing Iran that the US is serious about a military option if it fails to halt its nuclear program.??
Both with and without the United Nations, Obama has imposed on Iran?some of the severest economic sanctions ever leveled against a country. ?
The Obama administration also launched covert operations against Iran?s nuclear facilities, part of a covert war, presumably in cooperation with Israel, that have included cyberworms attacking uranium enrichment operations, explosions at nuclear facilities, and assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists ? though it is not clear that the US is involved in all aspects of this war.?
Meanwhile, Obama and administration officials have focused on reassuring Israel that there is still time to see if sanctions and diplomacy can work before military action is necessary. Romney says he would respect Israel's right to take preemptive action against Iran nuclear sites if it decides to launch air strikes.

I love stocks and I love the markets. It is time to bring together others that love the same things. It is time for Stocktoberfest.
When I started my blog in 2005 I named it: ?Trends ? Find them Ride them and Get off!? I would not change the tagline today. But, there is much I have learned and there are so many people that have helped me hone my style. Over the years I have gotten more and more excited about the concept of ?Social Leverage?. Stocktoberfest is a perfect extension of this practice for everyone involved.
The major topics of discussion for the event include:
Spotting Trends
Small data?big gains (price, volume, social signal)
Connecting the dots between early stage investing trends and public markets
Recognizing catalysts (good and bad)
Building dashboards
Tools of the trade
Setting routines that work
The taxman!
You will hear from:
1. Entrepreneurs that have sold their businesses and are wondering how to best invest.
2. CEO?s of public companies in Finance and Technology.
3. Top Venture Capitalists, Money Managers (stocks and bonds) and CTO?s.
We will dissect the favorite strategies from top investors and traders.
By the end of our two days together, you won?t have to walk across coals, but you might want to dip your toes in the Ocean. The island of Coronado is a magical place and our venue at the recently refurbished Village Theatres is a perfect setting. Coronado is 10 minutes from the San Diego airport.
We will have an Eventbrite page up this week that will have more details about our Keynote speakers and topics of discussion.
A few more things:
Only 150 seats are available.
Sadly, Stocktoberfest will not be free. But, with sponsors like Silicon Valley Bank $SIVB helping us out, we are putting on the conference for $299.
The first 50 people to sign up this week will get a special $199 rate. Drop me an email or leave a comment today to reserve a spot in the first 50.

NORTON, Mass. (AP) ? Tiger Woods ran off six straight birdies in the middle of his opening round Friday and shared the early lead at the Deutsche Bank Championship with a 7-under 64.
Coming off a poor weekend at Bethpage Black, Woods was close to flawless until the end of the round. After his ball sat down in the collar of the ninth green, his chip ran 12 feet by and he wound up with his only bogey on the TPC Boston. Woods missed only two greens. Five of his birdies were from 12 feet or longer.
Jeff Overton birdied the 18th hole to join Woods in the lead among the early starters. Overton needs a good tournament to advance to his home state of Indiana next week in the FedEx Cup playoffs.
